Burhan exists because the tools that shape legal work today were not designed with Morocco in mind — and because the next generation of those tools should not be either.
Why Burhan exists
Moroccan lawyers carry a disproportionate burden: bilingual archives, civil-law complexity, growing regulatory pressure — and software ecosystems mostly written for other jurisdictions.
We started Burhan because we believe the local legal profession deserves tools designed around its language, its precedents and its standards. Not a translated foreign product, but a platform built from the ground up for the realities of the Kingdom.
The gap
The legal ecosystem is digitising fast — but unevenly.
Firms manage growing volumes of bilingual documents with tools that were never designed for them. In-house teams operate as the control tower of large institutions, often without the infrastructure to match.
At the same time, generic AI products raise legitimate concerns: opaque data handling, foreign hosting, no understanding of local law. Adopting them seriously is a strategic risk.
Burhan is the answer we wished existed: a serious legal AI platform, built locally, with sovereignty as a first principle.
Vision
Morocco first. Then MENA and West Africa.
We are starting with the Moroccan legal market because we understand it deeply, and because doing one thing well matters more than spreading thin. The roadmap is then to extend Burhan across MENA and West Africa, jurisdiction by jurisdiction — keeping the same standard of seriousness in each.
The long-term vision is broader: that the most important legal infrastructure used in this region should be built in this region. Burhan is one step in that direction.
